Around 20.38% Voting Recorded In Jharsuguda Bypoll Till 11 Am

Jharsuguda: Till 11 am 20.38% voter turnout has been recorded, informed Chief Electoral Officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal. No unusual incident has been reported yet.

Earlier, around 9.75% voter turnout was recorded in the by-election to Jharsuguda assembly constituency till 9 am.

Voters have started lining up at all 253 booths across the constituency. Voting will continue till 6 pm in view of scorching heat conditions.

Reportedly, a total of 2, 21,070 people are eligible to exercise their franchise, including 1,10,320 men, 1,10,687 women and 63 of the third gender.

The fate of all candidates, including Tankadhar Tripathy of BJP, Dipali Das of BJD and Tarun Pandey of Congress, will be decided by voters today. Though nine candidates are in the fray, the contest is mainly between the BJD, BJP and Congress. However, the results will be known after the counting of votes on May 13.

The by-poll was necessitated following the daylight murder of incumbent MLA and Minister Naba Kishore Das on January 29.
