Assistant Teacher Caught Red-Handed While Selling Textbooks As Scrap In Puri

Puri: A school teacher was caught red-handed by the villagers while selling textbooks meant for students to a scrap dealer.

The accused has been identified as Basudev Swain, an assistant teacher at Matha Kankuda Government Upper Primary School under Kapileswarpur Gram Panchayat.

According to reports, the school had a stockpile of textbooks in all the subjects for students from Class I to VIII. Swain tried to sell them as scrap for petty personal gains.

Upon being asked the reason behind selling the textbooks meant for the students, Swain said that he wanted to spend the money on school development work.

Meanwhile, Assistant Education Officer Mamata Mishra said that proper action will be taken following an inquiry.

Worth mentioning that a few days ago a government official was made to do sit-ups by irate villagers after he was caught selling books to a scrap dealer in Khordha district.
