Balasore Train Tragedy: Sabotage Angle Not Ruled Out Completely

Bhubaneswar: The sabotage angle behind the triple train tragedy at Bahanaga bazaar in Balasore has not been ruled out. It was evident since the day the Railway Board recommended a CBI probe into the mishap.

According to the preliminary findings, the Coromandel Express went to the loop line and crashed into the goods train.

As the Superfast Express was running at a speed of 128 kmph on the main line and it was supposed to go straight as a goods train was already on the loop line, there was no chance of the Coromandel Express taking the loop line.

The diversion of a train to a particular track is handled by an automatic software-controlled Interlocking System. So, human error is believed to be cause behind the crash involving Coromandel Express, Bengaluru- Howrah Superfast Express, and a goods train.

Meanwhile, several theories including, signal failure and technical glitches have surfaced.

On the other hand, a CBI team reportedly reached the accident site in Bahanaga on Tuesday to probe into the crash involving three trains.
