Bhubaneswar Firing Case: Prime Accused Held

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested the prime accused of a firing case that happened in Jharpada on Wednesday.

The accused Pravat Martha was arrested along with his associate by the police today. Earlier, the bodyguard of Martha and another person were arrested in this case. With the recent arrest, the total number of arrests, in this case, rose to four.

Martha, contested for the post of corporator as a BJP candidate in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections last year.

According to reports, two family members of Sridhar Jena were injured in a firing incident in the Laxmisagar police station area on Wednesday night.

The victims said the shootout was related to a tussle over lane-changing and overtaking issues. Police arrested two persons following questioning in the incident. Further investigation is underway.
