BJD Promises to Make Padampur A District

Bhubaneswar: The ruling party Biju Janta Dal (BJD) promises Padampur will get district status by December 31. BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik made such a promise to the Padmapur action committee members today.

Amid the Padampur by-election, Chief Minister said, he has promised this to the people of the region not as the Chief Minister, but as the head of the BJD.

Action committee chaired by State Minister Niranjan Pujari reached Naveen Nivas today to discuss the demand for the district status for Padmapur, with the Chief Minister.

According to sources, they demanded the Chief Minister to declare Padmapur as a District, Paikmal as NAC, and Paikmal Health Center as a sub-divisional hospital.

Their demands were also supported by opposition parties.
