BJP Leader Shot At in His Home in Punjab

Amritsar: Balwinder Gill, Punjab BJP SC morcha general secretary was fired at from close range at his residence in Amritsar on Sunday night. An armed miscreant entered his home and shot at him.

Police have registered a case and an investigation into the matter has been started. Balwinder Gill lived in Jandiala Guru in Punjab. According to police sources, the assailants had come on a motorcycle.

The incident occurred at around 9 pm on Sunday night. A bullet fired from close range pierced his mouth. But luckily the BJP leader survived and is out of danger, police sources said.

Initial investigation hints that there was only one assailant. Police have started scanning the CCTV footage of the area to identify the accused. Police have registered a case under Section 307 (attempted murder) of the Indian Penal Code and various sections of the Arms Act.
