Bus Strike Plan In Odisha From Tomorrow Put On Hold

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Bus Owners’ Association has decided to postpone the strike that was scheduled to begin on January 17.

According to reports, the strike called for tomorrow was put on hold off after a meeting with the Odisha government.

Speaking to media persons, the secretary of the association, Debendra Sahu informed,” Three demands of among eleven points have been promised to be fulfilled by the government of Odisha soon. The government has also said that discussions are on regarding other points and those demands will be fulfilled by March 31.”

“Meanwhile, the protest has been postponed. We will launch the strike, if their demands are not met by March 31,” he added.

Demanding fulfilment of an eleven-point charter of demands and opposing the policy, the association members had last month staged a protest in front of the office of the State Transport Authority.

Transport Department Secretary had January 7 held a discussion with the members. However, the meeting remained unfruitful.

Subsequently, the association announced the bus strike from January 17 for an indefinite period.
