Business Partner of Minister Naba Das Claims of Receiving Death Threats

Jharsuguda: Mystery deepens after information of a complaint lodged by  business partner of Naba Das, Sanjay Nanda at Sundargarh Town police station last night alleging death threats came forward. Sanjay Nanda owns a transport agency in partnership with State Health Minister Naba Das.

Earlier today, Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare minister Naba Kishore Das was shot at by an assistant sub-inspector of police in Jharsuguda district on Sunday. The ASI has been taken into custody for interrogation and investigation.

The reason behind his attack on the minister is not known. But this incident has raised serious questions on the security measures as the Odisha Health Minister was provided police escort. The injured minister was to attend a mega programme in Brajarajnagar.

The man who fired at Das reportedly was in police uniform and he has been identified as ASI Gopal Das. As a policeman in uniform, Gopal Das could reach the Odisha Health Minister’s proximity to fire four to five rounds at his chest.

“Assistant Sub-inspector of Police (ASI) Gopal Das opened fire at the minister. The minister is injured and rushed to hospital,” Brajrajnagar SDPO Gupteswar Bhoi.
