Censor Board Orders for Changes in ‘Pathaan’

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has objected to certain scenes in the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film ‘Pathaan’. The CBFC has asked the makers of the movie to implement certain changes in the film, including in its songs, and submit a revised version.

This film was recently thoroughly examined by the CBFC examination committee for certification. ‘Pathaan’ is scheduled for release in theatres in January 2023. It will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The ‘Besharam Rang’ song of this film has already stirred controversy because of the orange-coloured bikini worn by Deepika Padukone.

CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi said, “The committee has guided the makers to implement the advised changes in the film including the songs, and submit the revised version prior to theatrical release”.

The film’s track ‘Besharam Rang’ faced protests in different parts of the country. Some felt use of saffron and green costumes was objectionable. Effigies of Deepika and Shah Rukh were burnt in Indore.

Madhya Pradesh minister Narottam Mishra, threatened to ban Pathaan in Madhya Pradesh.
