Bajrang Dal, VHP Will Not Oppose Pathaan Screening in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Cuts and revisions directed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) have satisfied the Bajrang Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). They have declared that they will not oppose the screening of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer movie in Gujarat.

“The Censor Board has removed obscene lyrics and lewd words from the film. I congratulate all workers and the entire Hindu society for this successful struggle to protect religion and culture,” said Gujarat VHP in a statement. “We leave it to the enlightened citizens of Gujarat to decide whether to watch the film or not,” said Gujarat VHP’s regional leader Ashok Rawal.

The Censor Board had suggested more than 10 cuts, including some of the sensuous moves in the song Besharam Rang of Pathaan movie. But interestingly the CBFC allowed said Deepika’s much-controversial orange bikini to be shown without any changes.

There were some changes in the words used in the dialogues. They included the change of Langde Lulle to Toote Foote, Ashok Chakra to Veer Puraskar, ex-KGB with ex-SBU, and Mrs Bharatmata to Hamari Bharatmata.

After the release of its Besharam Rang song, this movie invited the ire of some BJP leaders and Sangh Parivar. They had objected to the orange bikini worn by Deepika in the song. In Gujarat, members of the Bajrang Dal held protests and burnt posters and banners of the movie.
