Counting of Votes Begins for Assembly Elections in Tripura, Meghalaya & Nagaland

New Delhi: Counting of votes for the assembly elections in the North Eastern states of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya began a short while ago.

The counting began at 8 AM with postal ballots being counted first. In Meghalaya, all arrangements are in place for counting votes in all 59 Assembly constituencies amidst tight security arrangements.

There will be a total of 383 rounds of counting while a maximum of 9 rounds will be held for the biggest constituency Mawlai in East Khasi Hills District whereas 4 rounds will be held for smaller constituencies like Dalu in West Garo Hills District.

The District Election Officers and Returning Officers have been directed to strictly follow ECI protocols following there were reports of non-deletion of mock poll data in 7 polling stations.
