Delhi IIT Student Killed, Another Injured in Hit-and-Run

New Delhi: Ashraf Nawaz Khan (30), a research student died and his friend Ankur Shukla (29) was seriously injured when a car hit them near the IIT Delhi campus on Tuesday night.

Both were Ph.D. students at IIT Delhi. They became victims of a hit-and-run, while they were returning back to campus after having dinner at an eatery in the SDA market. According to eyewitnesses, a car hit them while they were crossing the road near Gate Number 1 of IIT Delhi.

Both injured students were transported to Safdarjung hospital. Khan died in the hospital. Shukla’s leg was fractured.

Police discovered the accident-causing car abandoned in a damaged condition some distance away from the accident spot. An investigation is on to identify the driver.
