Helicopter Crashes in Ukraine Killing 16 Including Interior Minister

A helicopter crashed near a kindergarten outside Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv on Wednesday. Sixteen persons including Ukraine’s interior minister died in this crash.

In total, 16 people are currently known to have died,” the head of Ukraine’s national police, Igor Klymenko, said. Among the dead are several top officials of the interior ministry including Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky, he said.

Nine of those killed in this helicopter crash were aboard the aircraft. The others killed in this crash included two children. Ten other children were admitted in hospital.

Earlier, Kyiv regional administration had declared, “In the city of Brovary, a helicopter fell near a kindergarten and a residential building. At the time of the tragedy, children and employees were in the kindergarten.”
