Eco-Friendly Step: Bam Univ Students & Staff to Avoid Personal Vehicles on Saturdays

Berhampur: With an aim to reduce pollution on the campus, an eco-friendly directive has been issued by the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Berhampur University here in Odisha’s Ganjam district. On Saturdays, the Berhampur University campus will have the least number of fossil fuel-driven vehicles.

The VC of Berhampur University has urged the students and employees to avoid bringing their personal vehicles to the premises on Saturdays. But there is no restriction on the use of e-vehicles. This move will also encourage the use of e-vehicles on campus.

“The Vice-Chancellor has been pleased to take an initiative to make the campus pollution free and to encourage zero-emission at least one day per week. Hence, all employees (both teaching and non-teaching) and students are requested to avoid using personal vehicles, bikes, scooters etc. inside the campus on every Saturday,” the order issued by the VC stated.

Added to it, all employees of Berhampur University have also been directed to wear dresses made up of khadi during their duty hours on Fridays. This is an effort to create awareness for “nationality/ patriotism/ unity and integrity” among the staff.
