7 Labourers Die While Cleaning Oil Tank in AP’s Kakinada

Kakinada: At least seven labourers suffocated to death while cleaning an oil tank at a private factory in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district on Thursday. This mishap occurred at the Ambati Subbanna oil factory.

According to police sources, this accident happened at around 8 AM at a 25 feet high oil tank. A labourer cleaning the huge tank slipped and fell into it. Seven others entered the tank to rescue him. All of them except one died in the tank because of asphyxiation.

One labourer rescued alive from the spot was rushed to a hospital.

According to police sources, 5 deceased labourers were from Paderu and 2 others were from Peddapuram. A case has been registered and bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Further investigations are underway.
