Female Police SI Threatened by Sword-Wielding Miscreants; Two Held

Bhubaneswar: The accused who allegedly abused, threatened and chased a female Sub-Inspector (SI) of Odisha Police were detained by the Shaheed Nagar Police. The police also seized the car they were in.

The identity of the accused is not yet revealed by the police.

A group of unidentified miscreants allegedly abused, threatened and chased a female Sub-Inspector (SI) of Odisha Police while she was returning to her official residence in Bhubaneswar at late night of January 2.

The concerned police SI Subhashree Nayak, who is posted at Mahila Police Station, Bhubaneswar, has lodged a complaint regarding it at Sahid Nagar Police Station.

As per her complaint, while she was returning back to her home after finishing duty on January 2 night at around 1.30 AM a group of miscreants in a car chased her near the reserve barracks in the State Capital. They also showed a sword to the female cop from the car. They threatened her to stop her vehicle on the lonely road. But the brave cop did not stop and managed to reach her official residence.

The miscreants were travelling in an SUV. It is suspected that they were in an inebriated state.

After the complaint was lodged at Shaheed Nagar police station, the police registered Case No. 3/2023 IPC section 341, 294, 506, 34 and continued the investigation of the incident. Some of the miscreants were identified after checking the CCTV footage of the surrounding area. However, on Wednesday evening, a police team raided various places and arrested 2 people and seized the car. Further investigation is underway
