Five Of A Family Drown In Narmada Canal While Trying to Save a Woman

Gandhinagar: Five members of a family drowned in the Narmada canal while trying to save a woman who was drowning in the same canal in Kutch area of Gujarat.

Bodies of the drowned persons were recovered near the Gundala village in Mundra. According to police sources, this mishap happened when a woman collecting water slipped into the fast-flowing canal. To save her five members of the ill-fated family jumped into the water.

The main channel of the Narmada canal is around 532 km long. Out of it 458 km is in Gujarat while 74 km is in Rajasthan.
