G20: 2nd Employment Working Group Meeting to Begin in Guwahati Today

Guwahati: The second G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) meeting will begin today in Guwahati. The city has been decked up for the three-day meeting.

The EWG Summit will focus on three key areas of global skill gaps, gig and platform economy & social protection and sustainable financing of social security. Foreign delegates, members from 19 member countries and guest countries, have started arriving in Guwahati. Apart from this, members of some other international organisations will also participate in the meeting.

Today’s meeting will start with a presentation by Finance Track, Digital Economy Working Group, Education Working Group and activities and accomplishments of the entrepreneurship research centre on G20 economies. Cultural programmes at Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre will follow the panel discussion.

Tomorrow’s sessions will include “Draft Ministerial Declaration”, and deliberation on “Gig and Platform Economy and Social Protection”. Sessions on “Sustainable Financing of Social Protection” and “Addressing Global Skill Gaps” will be held on a concluding day on Wednesday.

Yoga sessions will also be held for delegates today and on Wednesday. The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment is the nodal Ministry for the track.
