Groom Meets Watery Grave Hours Before Marriage in Angul

Angul: A youth drowned to death a few hours before his wedding in Jagannathpur village in Odisha’s Angul district.

The deceased was identified as Nisha Behera. According to sources, he had gone to take bath in a pond near the village after playing Holi with family members and friends. But as he did not return home, his family members started to look for him as he was supposed to get married on that day.

His body was later recovered from the pond. On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.

According to reports, Nisha had eloped with a girl he was in a relationship with and brought her home. The couple was set to get married at the village temple on the day of Holi. However, he died on that very day.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
