Hearing in Mahanadi Tribunal Postponed

Bhubaneswar: The hearing on the water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh in the Mahanadi Tribunal is postponed again on Saturday.

The next hearing is scheduled on January 7, 2023.

According to sources, Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments have expressed their agreement with the report compiled by the technical committee appointed in this regard.

However, both state governments disagree on the distribution of the Mahanadi water in the lower catchment areas. Meanwhile, the Common Information Format is yet to be accepted by both sides.

Amidst this, the Tribunal has asked the governments of Odisha and Chhattisgarh to virtually discuss on the matter and go for a settlement after a field-level visit.
