Hindol BEO Caught Taking Rs 10k Bribe

Dhenkanal: The Odisha Vigilance officials on Tuesday caught the Block Education Officer of Hindol in Dhenkanal district while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from an Assistant Teacher.

According to Vigilance, Santanu Kumar Mallik, Block Education Officer (BEO), Bolangir was apprehended today while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from an assistant teacher for releasing of pay allowance and DA arrears, which were held up due to suspension.

The entire bribe money of Rs.10,000/- has been recovered from BEO Panigrahi and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three places including the residential house of Mallik at Kuansa in Bhadrak, the Vigilance said.

Till the last report came in, the search is on at Mallik’s rented house at Khajuriakata Bajar and his office.

Further investigation into the matter is on.
