Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for hailstorms and thunderstorms with gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph, and moderate to intense rain likely to affect some parts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and Bhadrak districts of Odisha in the next three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places protect from lightning strike.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms and rain have brought down the temperature below 40°C under the influence of westerlies. The IMD has predicted that the maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to drop by 2°C to 3°C in the next few days.
