Aahar Kendras in All Govt Medical Centers of Koraput Dist

Koraput: Rural patients visiting Community Health Centers (CHC) and Primary Health Centers (PHC) in the Koraput district will now get healthy food at extremely low price through Aaahar Kendras. Koraput district administration has decided to open up Aahar centers at all PHCs and CHCs of the district.

Through this project, all people coming to these government health centers will benefit from the food subsidization programme of the Odisha government.

At present, the District Headquarter Hospital in Koraput and the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College Hospital in Jeypore have Aahar Kendras, where patients and their attendants get a full meal at Rs 5.

There are 16 CHCs and 51 PHCs in the Koraput district. As per the Koraput administration, initially, Aaahar Kendras will be established in the CHCs. Later they will be extended to the PHCs. Local panchayat bodies will look after the new Aahar Kendras in coordination with the administration.

During a Mission Shakti meeting, Koraput collector Abdaal M Akhtar informed that the Aahar Kendras at PHCs and CHCs will be run by the local Women’s Self-Help Groups (WSHG).

Aahar programme provides cooked hot meals of rice and dalma to the needy at Rs. 5.
