Indian Vaccine for Bird-Flu in Market Soon

New Delhi:   Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) has shared the technology of its first indigenously-developed vaccine for H9N2 virus with private companies. It will enable easy availability of the vaccine against bird-flu or avian-flu in the Indian market benefitting poultry farmers.

According to reports, ICAR has shared the vaccine formula Globions India Private Limited, Secunderabad; Venkateshwara Hatcheries Private Limited, Pune; Indovax Private Limited, Gurgaon; and Hester Biosciences Limited, Ahmedabad.

After getting the required government approval these companies can start production of this vaccine. It is anticipated that the vaccine would be available in the next three to four months.

This vaccine against avian influenza (H9N2) was developed by the National Institute of High Security Animal Disease (NISHAD), Bhopal.
