Infant Crushed to Death Under Police Boots; 5 Jharkhand Cops Suspended

Ranchi: A four-day-old infant died after being allegedly crushed under the boots of policemen during a police raid in Jharkhand’s Giridih district. As the incident came to light Jharkhand police registered an FIR against six policemen and five of them were suspended on Thursday.

The postmortem report of the deceased child stated “rupture of the spleen” had caused the death of this four-day infant, he said. Following it an FIR was lodged at Deori police station against six policemen including two officers, Sangam Pathak, and S K Mandal. Five of them were suspended.

The alleged incident occurred at Koshodinghi village under Deori police station in the small hours of Wednesday, when police personnel raided a house to arrest two persons.
