Iran Rains Missiles on Israel Escalating Middle East Tension

Iran fired dozens of missiles into Israel on Tuesday escalating the the months-long conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah and Hamas. As per reports, Iran fired around 200 missiles at Israeli targets.

Israel ordered residents to head to bomb shelters as air raid sirens sounded across the country. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

A series of explosions were heard in Tel Aviv and near Jerusalem. It was not clear whether these explosion sounds were of missiles intercepted by Israeli defences, missile hits, or  both.

Following this missile attack, Israel and the United States warned Iran of severe consequences in the event of an attack on Israel from Iran.

Israeli media reports said as many as 100 missiles had been launched by Iran. Iran warned this attack represented only a “first wave”.

The firing of missiles by Iran came after Israel said its troops had launched ground raids into Lebanon. Israeli strikes have killed over 1,000 people in Lebanon.
