IRCTC Land-for-Job Scam: Lalu’s Aide RJD MLA in ED’s Target, Raids at 15 Places in 3 States

Patna: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) started search operations and conducted searches at 15 locations in three states in connection with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) scam. The house of RJD leader and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s aide Abu Dojana in Bihar’s Patna is also being raided by the ED officials.

The locations where ED is conducting raids on Friday are in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai. They include the properties linked to Lalu Yadav and his family members.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for questioning in this case. His wife, Rabri Devi, was also questioned by the CBI at her Patna house.

This case is related to the alleged corrupt practice of accepting land by Lalu and his family members in lieu of a job in the Indian Railways.

According to the CBI, when Lalu Prasad served as the railways minister of Bihar from 2004 to 2009, he had obtained pecuniary advantages in the form of land transferred to his family members in return for appointment of substitutes in Group “D” posts in different zones of the Railways.

In 2018, the ED seized a mall in Patna which was under construction. It was built by Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family. The mall’s construction was undertaken by Meridian Construction India Limited, a company belonging to Abu Dojana.
