Knife-Wielding Youth Tries to Kill A Judge in Berhampur; Police Arrests the Man

Berhampur: A youth tried to make a lethal attack on the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) of Berhampur with a knife inside the court on Monday. The accused identified as Bhagaban Sahu of Old Berhampur area was arrested by police.

According to Berhampur SP, this incident occurred at around 2.30 PM when SDJM Berhampur was in her chamber attending her work. The assailant suddenly went near her chair and put a knife to her neck and threatened to kill her.

Her staff & lawyers present there immediately overpowered him and caught hold of him. Police present there took him under custody immediately. The SDJM was not harmed in any manner.

The accused was taken to Baidyanathpur police station for interrogation.

Berhampur SP rushed to the spot to monitor the investigation. Eyewitnesses say the arrested youth was in an inebriated state. He was in Berhampur court today in relation to the hearing of a case pending against him.
