Konark Constable Arrested for Sexually Exploiting Woman on Pretext of Marriage

Puri: A constable posted at Konark police station was arrested by the personnel of the Puri Town police station for having physical relations with a woman and cheating her through false promise of marriage.

The accused identified as Govind Chandra Sahoo was arrested following a complaint lodged against him by the victim at the Puri Town police station. Sahoo hails from Brahmagiri while the victim is a resident of Satapada.

According to the complaint, Govind built up a friendship with the woman through Facebook, and promised to marry her. On pretext of marriage, he kept physical relationship with her for two and a half years. During the period the erring police constable also married another woman secretly.

When the woman found out about Govind’s marriage through his WhatsApp profile picture, she registered a police complaint against the constable.
