Kotia Border Dispute: SC Issues Notices to Odisha & AP

New Delhi: Supreme Court issued notices to the governments of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh in relation to the continuing border dispute over the Kotia region in the Koraput district. Both state governments will have to submit their replies to the apex court within 28 days.

A petition regarding it was filed by the Odisha government in the Supreme Court. The SC has issued notices in regard to this petition filed by Odisha. In the previous hearing, the Supreme Court had suggested both states to solve the border dispute mutually at the political level.

Following it, the Odisha government submitted an additional suit in court. In this petition, Odisha mentioned that the court in its rulings in 1968 and 2006 had ordered to maintain the status quo in the disputed Kotia region.

In its petition, the Odisha government alleged that the Andhra government violated the previous order of the court. Taking this into account, the SC issued notices to Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
