Labourer’s Body Found in Foreign Ship at Paradip Port Under Mysterious Conditions

Paradip: The body of a labourer was recovered from a foreign ship under mysterious circumstances at a berth in Odisha’s Paradip port on Tuesday. Tension prevailed in the area following the recovery of the body.

The deceased was identified as Bibhuti Barik from the Badamba Narasinghpur area.

The exact reason behind his death has not been ascertained. Initial investigation hints that he may have died of suffocation inside the hatch of the ship.

As per reports, Barik was engaged in cleaning work after unloading of the consignment on a night shift two days back. As his body was recovered almost over 30 hours later, it is suspected that he failed to come out after getting trapped inside due to the covering of the hatch.

Police have started an investigation. Further details are awaited.
