Magh Mela at Sangam Kicks Off

Prayagraj: In Uttar Pradesh, lakhs of devotees are taking a holy dip in the rivers on the occasion of Paush Poornima. With this auspicious bathing today, the annual religious event of Magh Mela held on the banks of Sangam at Prayagraj also started.

Lakhs of devotees along with saints flocked to the Ghats of the holy river Ganges in cities like Prayag raj, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Hapur, and Kanpur.

From early morning devotees are taking baths in the rivers and offer prayers.  people are taking a holy dip at Sangam, the confluence of River Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.

At Prayag raj, almost One and a half month long Magh Mela which begins today with Paush Purnima snan will culminate with Mahashivratri snan.

The Mela administration has made elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims including Kalpwasi who stay here at the banks of Sangam for one and a half months. The “kalpwasis” is regarded as the most faithful pilgrims, who vow to live a minimalist life on the banks of the Sangam for this period which is called Kalpwas.
