Mahabharat’s Shakuni Mama, Gufi Paintal, No More

Mumbai: Veteran actor Gufi Paintal, who is remembered for playing Shakuni mama in BR Chopra’s epic TV serial Mahabharat, passed away on Monday at a hospital in Mumbai due to age-related issues. He was 79.

The veteran actor was admitted at a hospital in suburban Andheri. At around 9 am his heart gave up. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, informed his nephew Hiten.

Gufi Paintal has acted in several Hindi movies including Suhaag, Dillagi, as well as television shows like CID and Hello Inspector. But his role as Shakuni mama from BR Chopra’s “Mahabharat” made him a household name.

He is survived by his son, daughter-in-law and a grandchild. His funeral will be held today at around 4 pm at a crematorium in Andheri.
