Man Gets 10 Yrs Imprisonment For Killing Mother in Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A man was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment for killing his mother in Odisha’s Sundargarh district in 2017.

The accused was identified as Dushmant Kalo of Tumulabuda village under the Dharuadih police limit. Apart from imprisonment, the Sundargarh District Sessions Judge Subhadarshi Patnaik also imposed a penalty of Rs 5,000 on the convict.

According to reports, Dushmant had killed his mother Bisaya Kalo by hitting her repeatedly with a wooden plank over some family disputes in 2017. Dushmant’s younger brother, who was away from home during the incident, had lodged an FIR in this regard with the Dharuadih police.

Based on the complaint, police arrested Dushmant.

The Sundargarh District Sessions Judge convicted Dushmant under Section 304 (1) of IPC by examining 29 witnesses and the evidence collected by police during the investigation.
