Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Killing Wife

Bhadrak: Bhadrak District & Sessions Court awarded life imprisonment to a man for murdering his wife in 2019, on Tuesday.

The accused was identified as Prahallad Das of Khadala Pokhari village under Bansda police limits. He killed his wife Rashmita in 2019.

Bhadrak District Judge Pradyumna Kumar Nayak sentenced the accused to life imprisonment for the murder. The Judge also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Prahallad in addition to the sentence. On failure to pay the fine amount, the accused has to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) of six months.

Reportedly, Prahallad who was practising ‘tantra’ had sacrificed his wife Rashmita by slitting her throat with a scythe while she was sleeping in her bedroom on January 23 in 2019.
