Miscreants Open Fire At BJD Leader In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Three unidentified miscreants allegedly opened fire at a BJD leader in the Kamakhyanagar area of Dhenkanal district on late last night.

The victim has been identified as Kanhu Charan Sahu.

According to reports, three bike-borne miscreants intercepted Sahu’s car at around 10.45 pm on Wednesday and broke open the windowpane of the vehicle and shot two rounds of bullets at Sahu leaving him critically injured. They fled the spot immediately.

Subsequently, Sahu sustained grievous injuries in his hand and thigh. He was immediately rushed to Kamakhanagar hospital. Later, he was shifted to a hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

However, the motive behind the attack on Sahu is yet to be ascertained.

On getting information, Kamakhyanagar police reached the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident on the basis of the CCTV footage.

The cops have also recovered empty cartridges of the bullets and the shards of glass from the spot.

Worth mentioning that Sahu was earlier attacked by miscreants and bombs were also hurled at his residence a few months back.
