Netherlands to Lock Horns with US in First Round of 16 Match

Doha (Qatar): In FIFA World Cup, the Netherlands and the United States of America will meet in the first Round of 16 matches at the Khalifa International Stadium today, December 3. The match will begin at 08.30 PM IST.

The Dutch have not been beaten in Qatar 2022 yet. After getting off to a winning start against Senegal (2-0), it drew against Ecuador before hammering in two goals again against the host. USA too are unbeaten – having played out two draws against Wales and England first before pocketing a 1-0 win against Iran.

In another match, Group C topper Argentina will face Group D runner-up Australia at 12.30 tonight. Argentina suffered one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history with their defeat to Saudi Arabia in their opening match but recovered their poise to swagger past Mexico and Poland into the last 16.

Australia, ranked 35 places below Argentina, lost to France Group stage but registered victories against Tunisia and Denmark to earn their place in round 16.
