Devotees Will Now Be Able To Visit Mount Kailash from India; Check Details

Pithoragarh: Starting this September, devotees will be able to visit Mount Kailash, the revered abode of Lord Shiva, from India. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has commenced construction on a 6.5-kilometre road, stretching from KMVN Huts in Pithoragarh district to Lipulekh pass on the India-China border. The project is set to be completed by September.

Vimal Goswami, Chief Engineer of BRO’s Diamond Project, confirmed the progress of road-cutting work and the impending completion of the new route. Once ready, travellers can enjoy the breathtaking ‘Kailash View Point’ along the road, developed by the Hirak Project under the Indian government’s initiative.

The Kailash-Mansarovar yatra through Lipulekh Pass was previously postponed due to the Covid pandemic and has not yet resumed. To address the long stall, the Indian government has taken significant efforts to forge an alternative path, granting devotees easier access to Mount Kailash.

This new access route is anticipated to provide a much-awaited opportunity for devotees to embark on their spiritual journey to the sacred mountain. As the weather conditions remain favourable, the completion of the road by September seems promising.
