NIA Operation to Nab ISIS Sympathizers; Raids at 60 Places in Kerala, TN, Karnataka

New Delhi: Sleuths of the National Investigating Agency (NIA) have started simultaneous searches at over 60 locations in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka to nab suspected ISIS sympathizers. According to sources, the raids in Tamil Nadu were in connection with the Coimbatore car cylinder blast case.

The persons who are being searched for in these over 60 locations across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala in connection with suspected ISIS sympathizers were reportedly radicalized through videos.

The Anti-terror agency is raiding more than 45 places in Karnataka.

On Saturday NIA arrested a suspected terrorist having links with the outlawed terror outfit Al Qaeda, in Bengaluru. The arrested terror suspect, identified as Arif, is a software engineer working in a tech-company in Bengaluru. He hails from Uttar Pradesh.

It is suspected that Arif was in contact with Al Qaeda and ISIS as well. He was planning to join ISIS. According to sources, he had traveled to Syria via Iran in March last year. He was planning to visit Syria again.
