North Korea Fires 2 Ballistic Missiles as US Aircraft Carrier on Way to Neighbouring Area

North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles on Monday. This coincided with the United States moving an aircraft carrier to neighbouring waters for military exercises with South Korea. These were North Korea’s seventh missile test this month.

According to the South Korean military, two missiles were fired from a western inland area south of the North Korean capital of Pyongyang from around 7.47 am to 8 am. These missiles travelled around 370 km before landing at sea. Japan’s military alleged that the missiles landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

The launches came a day before the American aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and its strike group is to arrive at the South Korean port of Busan.
