Odisha CB Arrests Nigerian Cyber Fraud from Delhi

Bhubaneswar: Personnel of the Crime Branch of Odisha Police arrested a Nigerian cyber fraud from New Delhi. The arrested person was identified as Patrick Chizorom Orajaka (35). As per a complaint lodged against him in Cyber Police Station, he had duped Rs 28.67 lakh from a female victim of Cuttack.

Posing as a gynecologist from the Netherlands, the Nigerian cyber cheat had contacted the victim on the social media platform. After chatting on Instagram messenger, the victim also shared her WhatsApp number with the cyber fraud.

Later the accused informed the victim that he was coming to India to meet her. On the very next day, the complainant received a call from a person who identified himself as a Customs officer posted at New Delhi Airport and informed the victim that one of her relatives who came to meet her was carrying 90,000 EURO with him, which was against the rule and he has been detained.

To get her Instagram friend released, the gullible victim deposited money in several phases in different accounts. But the demand for money never ended. Then only the victim could realize that she had been cheated and she reported the matter to the CID CB Cyber Crime Police Station.

The investigating police team managed to track down the Nigerian cheat in New Delhi. Sixteen debit cards, 12 mobile phones, 22 bank passbooks, 10 bank chequebooks, 20 SIMs, and a laptop were seized from the possession of the arrested Nigerian. A passport, Aadhaar card, and PAN card issued in his name were also seized.
