Odisha CM Mourns for Students’ Death in Sonepur; Announces Ex-Gratia

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief on the death of the three students, who were killed in a road mishap in the Sonepur district. The CM also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakhs for each of the next of kin of the deceased students.

He also announced Rs 50,000 for each of the students who got injured in this accident and issued a directive to concerned officials to provide appropriate treatment to the students.

It is pertinent to note that, three students were killed while they were crossing the road in front of their school when a speeding Scorpio hit the students. One of them died on the spot, another in Sonepur District Headquarters Hospital and another student died while he was being shifted to Burla medicals.

On being informed, police reached the spot and rushed the injured students to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). The cops also seized the vehicle and detained the accused for questioning.

Further investigation is underway in this regard.
