Odisha Government to Publish Caste Census Report Soon: Report

Bhubaneswar: After Bihar published the results of the caste-based census, Odisha has decided to come out with the results of the OBC (Other Backward Classes) census in the state soon. Odisha government is now mulling over releasing the report.

The state government is proactive on the OBC census report, a Biju Janata Dal MLA said. On Tuesday, the Assam government also said that it will conduct a socio-economic survey of the state’s five indigenous Muslim communities so that measures can be initiated for their upliftment.

The decision is expected to provide a push for their development in healthcare, cultural identity, education, financial matters, skill development and women empowerment among others, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) of Assam said in a statement.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar, released findings of its much-awaited caste survey which revealed that OBCs and EBCs constitute a whopping 63 per cent of the state’s total population.
