Odisha Sarpanch Urges Villagers To Plant 50 Trees Every Time A Girl Child Is Born

Nuapada: A sarpanch of Nuapada district has declared the plantation of 50 trees for every female birth in her panchayat.

Reportedly, Sarojini Agarwal, the sarpanch of Bhaleswar panchayat of Nuapada block of the district has announced that 50 trees will be planted for every birth of a girl child as a message to curb gender discrimination in various forms.

Taking to Twitter, Sarojini shared the information with the State government and the district administration and said this is an effort to create awareness among locals to honour the girl child.
