One Electrocuted to Death During Ganesh Idol Immersion; Another Injured

Berhampur: A was electrocuted to death and another was seriously injured when they accidentally came in contact with a live wire on Wednesday evening during immersion of the Ganesh idol at Jagannath village under Purusottampur police station in Ganjam district.

The deceased was identified as Pabitra Sahu. The injured, Manoj Pradhan has been admitted to a hospital.

These two were part of a procession taken up at the village for the immersion of the Ganesh idol. While Pabitra and Manoj were trying to lift a low hanging service wire with a stick to let the procession pass easily, the wire snapped and fell on them.  Both were electrocuted and suffered serious burn injuries. They were rushed to the Bhatakumarada CHC, where doctors pronounced Pabitra dead. Later, injured Manoj was shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
