Over Rs 3 Crore Cash Seized from OAS Officer, Odisha Vigilance Arrests Him

Bhubaneswar: Over Rs 3 crore in cash was seized by the Odisha vigilance department during raids at the premises of an OAS officer, Prasanta Kumar Rout. He is now posted as Additional Sub-Collector in Nabarangpur district. Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested the ‘corrupt’ official for possessing disproportionate assets.

Simultaneous raids were conducted at his residences in Bhubaneswar, Nabarangpur and other places on Friday.

According to reports, the wife of the accused allegedly threw six cash-packed cartons to their neighbour’s terrace at Kanan Vihar in Bhubaneswar requesting them to hide it, when vigilance sleuths raided the place.

The cash-stashed cardboard cartons were recovered from the neighbour’s house by the vigilance officials. Added to it, another Rs 89.5 lakh in cash along with gold ornaments was recovered from his Nabarangpur residence.

Nine teams of Odisha vigilance were involved in these raids. They included two Additional SPs, seven DSPs, eight inspectors and others.
