POCSO Court Grants 20 Years Imprisonment To Rape Convict in Balasore Dist

Bhubaneswar: The Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Court in Balasore granted a rape convict 20 years of imprisonment.

The court also imposed a fine amount of ₹ 6,000 on the convict. The POCSO Court also directed the District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) to pay Rs 4 Lakh to the rape survivor as compensation.

The convict was identified as  Saroja Das.

According to reports, the incident took place in 2019 when Das was the tuition teacher of the minor girl. Reportedly, Das raped the girl, when she was alone at home and fled from the spot. Later, the victim’s parents filed a complaint at the nearest police station and the convict was detained.
