New Delhi: Through a review petition, Congress will challenge the Supreme Court decision to release six convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. According to a news agency that quoted Congress party sources, this review petition is expected to be filed in next few days.

Last week Central government last week approached the Supreme Court urging a review of its order for premature release of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

The Supreme Court on November 11 directed the premature release of the six, including Nalini Sriharan and R P Ravichandran, who were serving life imprisonment in the case. Tamil Nadu government had recommended their release from jail.

Apart from these two, four other convicts in the case, Santhan, Murugan, Robert Payas and Jayakumar were also released. The apex court found that their conduct was satisfactory during their imprisonment.
