Rayagada: Man Arrested For Marrying Four Times Without Being Divorced

Rayagada: Police have arrested a man for allegedly marrying four women on different occasions without being legally separated from his earlier wives in Kashipur block of Odisha’s Rayagada district.

The arrestee has been identified as  Gopinath Kasan, a junior engineer in the Kothabadi Road Construction Department in Kashipur block of Odisha’s Rayagada district.

According to reports, Sunita and Gopinath got married in the presence of family members. After five months, there was tension in the relationship. He tortured Sunita on various occasions, and later on, Sunita came to know that she was his fourth wife.

Following this, Sunita lodged a complaint alleging Gopinath married her and three other young women without obtaining a divorce from any of his wives. She also alleged that Gopinath physically assaulted her.

On basis of the complaint, the police arrested Kisan and further questioning is underway in this regard.
