Rs 2 lakh Compensation for Pet Dog Attack

New Delhi: The victim of a pet dog attack will get Rs 2 lakh compensation. A District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum ordered the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Tuesday to give interim compensation of Rs 2 lakh to a woman who was seriously injured by a pet dog in August.

The consumer forum also opined that the urban body can collect the compensation amount from the owner of the dog.

The victim of this pet dog attack was a woman named Munni, who served as a domestic help. On August 11, while she was on her way to work along with her sister-in-law, she was attacked by Vinit Chikara’s dog . The pet dog had seriously injured her face and head.

The consumer forum directed the MCG to immediately take the dog into custody and cancel Chikara’s licence to own a dog. It also directed to ban 11 foreign breeds of dogs. The forum also ordered the MCG to formulate a policy for pet dogs within three months.
